here we have: A storybook-style tale set in a quaint little town populated with adorable anthropomorphic animal characters, including a beloved and respected community member who also happens to be a prolific but efficient serial killer. She is methodical and clean in her work and her hobby, until an audacious wannabe copycat starts playing on her turf. A multi-layered cat and mouse hunt follows, leading to a showdown that only one can survive.
This was very well paced; perfectly portioned across 6 issues. The supporting cast of characters were solid and the environment engaging. At a point I did wonder if the children's book art style was a gimmick, or if the story itself would be "plain" without it, but ultimately I don't think so. It felt integral to the tone of the story as well as its thematic questions. The inclusion of 'animal' animals alongside those in pants added an interesting dynamic, too. Overall a delightful read with very dark moments presented in a very charming visual style.
